It was one of the best-kept secrets in Hollywood and one that Judy Lewis only discovered two weeks before her wedding to producer Joe Tinney and 23 years after her birth - that she was the daughter of Clark Gable and Loretta Young.
Up to that point, Judy had believed what her mother told her: that she was adopted when she was 18 months old and that if she were her own child, she, Loretta, couldn't love her more. The only give away was that Judy looked like Loretta with Clark's large ears. The ears were hidden under hats and then corrected with cosmetic surgery when she was seven. The resemblance to her mother was explained away by the fact they lived under the same roof and little Judy had picked up her mannerisms.
